Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! How did we celebrate?? We celebrate in style.... The boys got to dress up at school again this year. Preston was so excited and had planned what he wanted to do. He was going to be Thing 1 and Tyson was going as Thing 2! We worked really hard on getting the costumes put together. (Including the blue pom-pom hair) Then on Tuesday Preston came down with Strep Throat. What a bummer!! He was miserable and couldn't go to school today. He was a good sport though and put his stuff on long enough to get a picture with Tyson.
It was also early out day today--so after school Tyson watched "The Cat in the Hat" and popped popcorn!! Then he requested GREEN EGGS & HAM for dinner!! We actually found several of the movies on a website. So the kids watched their favorite Dr. Seuss stories come to life!

Oh yes, we did have GREEN EGGS & HAM for dinner. Preston doesn't not like green eggs and ham! The rest of the kids ate them up!! I didn't color the ham, I was running out of time. The kids have been so hungry lately. If I don't have dinner on the table by 5:00--the WHINING starts!! It was a pretty fun day, minus the strep.

Oh, psst...Macey's Grocery Store is doing a Dr. Seuss Celebration this Saturday. From 11-1. Cookie decorating, stories, and more.

12 Days of Christmas--Day #10

School Sing-along, and Pajama Party.

There was so much going on at school on Day #10, that it had to count. The sing-along was cute. The second grade sang Silent Night, and did Sign Language with it. Then both kids did different class activities in their pajamas! It was a fun day!!

It's that time of year again, picture time. I am a looser Mom. I never buy the school pictures! They're way expensive. And I do not love their quality. So I feel bad...Preston never has pictures!! One of these days, we will have family pictures done, and I will get an individual done of Preston! Since Tyson still comes to work with me in the morning, he got his taken. Here were my favorites... Parades & Pumpkins

The boys made it home from the Deer Hunt just in time for their school's costume parade. They spent the day in their costumes, and having class parties!We carved pumpkins tonight. I was glad we got around to them, cause we were running out of time! I bought the Pumpkin Carving Cricut Cartridge a while back, and was so excited to use it. It basically cuts a stencil for you to use while carving. It turned out pretty fun-I think! Addy picked a spooky cemetery scene. Tyson picked Frankenstein. Preston choose a spooky Jack-o-Lantern face. A.J. free handed his pumpkin...I wish we could all have his talent.

Box Tops

At the kids' elementary school they do Box Tops for Education. We have been saving all summer. So when I got the email that it was time to turn them in, the kids were very excited. I guess the class with the most Box Tops gets some sort of reward. Having 2 kids in school now, we had to split it up. So I sent each of my boys with approx. 43 Box Tops each. I can not believe we have saved around 86 Box Tops through the summer. Good Luck boys, maybe one of your classes will get LUCKY! :)

Oh, by the way: No, I didn't cut around each little box neatly. However, I have 4 children. Ripping them from the box and sticking them in the bag should totally count! :)

*BUG PROGRAM*

Last week, I went to Preston's 1st grade Bug Program. It was so stinkin' cute. Did I get a snapshot of my cute little bug?! Why no...I didn't. But he looked adorable!! I did video tape the whole thing, but Blogger wont allow it on here. It's too long. :( Oh well I guess! He was an army ant, and had a speaking part. It was very cute!! Great Job Preston!

Oops...Preston's Field Trip

Preston got the chance to go to the Enviornmental Center on a field trip last week! He had a blast!! He got to snow shoe, sled, rock climb, and just had an awesome time!

1st grade: Here He Comes!!

Yesterday, I took Preston to his Back to School Night! I can't believe he is in first grade! Where did the time go?? He is starting a new school, because of a boundary change. So yesterday was a little nerve wracking for him! We found his new class, his new desk, and his new coat hook! We got to meet, and talk with his new teacher. He also got to make himself while we were there! (It was a little paper doll Preston) There are lot's of kids in our ward, neighborhood, and stake in his class! So that was really exciting to me!! Then lot's of his other friends are in the other classes, so he will be able to play with them at recess! This will be the first year he will be eating at school. I don't know why that is so emotional to me! (I am crazy-I know) So I made sure he knew where the cafeteria was, and we talked to the lunch ladies! They were really nice, and made me feel comfortable about it all! I am planning on signing up for the PTA again this year. The PTA Presidents are in my ward, and I think it will be a blast! I also signed up to be a room mom, and help with parties!! I love helping in his classroom, and since we have so many kids, it's nice to be able to go spend time on Preston for a couple hours. It helps us bond! :) I am so excited for him to start. He is learning so much, and getting so smart everyday! He was reading all of the posters in the classroom. I just couldn't believe it!!! Kindergarten Graduation

Well, today we hit a milestone. Our first born has graduated from Kindergarten. (SOB!!!) I just can't believe how the time has flown. Preston has learned so much through out the year. He has enjoyed field trips, class parties, learning sight words, beginning reading, and so much more!! He is looking forward to First Grade, but not until summer vacation is over. He will also attend a new Elementary School next year due to boundary changes. So that has been bittersweet! We are so thankful to his kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Heaton. She has been a wonderful teacher, and we couldn't have survived kindergarten without her! I hope you enjoy our pictures, it was

very hard to get good, clear shots. I got there early and still could only find a seat in the back. I guess that happens when you have over 100 kindergartners and all their families there! I will try and post a video of him later (I need Clint's help--I don't know how to work the video camera!)

Preston's Thoughts on Kindergarten:

My Favorite thing about kindergarten was playing trains.

I learned about animals in kindergarten.

My favorite subject was reading.

I did not like singing at kindergarten!

My best friend was Rigby!

My favorite Field Trip was to the Nature Center.

My favorite party was the Christmas Party.

I liked that Mrs. Heaton was a good teacher.

Next year, I hope I can learn more math!

Tyson's Preschool Graduation!

We spent this evening celebrating Tyson's Preschool graduation. It was nice to enjoy the warm weather and the sunshine! His class sang a couple of songs. Then they were given an award, and certificate of completion. We are proud of our little "Woogie"! He is growing up right before our eyes, and becoming so smart!!

Snow Day at Weber State Preschool

Tyson has so much fun going to Preschool at Weber State University. They do so many fun things with them. We have had enough snow that they were able to get Tubes out and let the kids sled. I watched him go over and over for 30 minutes. I am sure his poor teacher was so tired of pushing him down. He has such a great time!! He is also learning so much!! Some of the pictures are blurry. I was taking pictures from inside the building, through the window. I didn't want to interrupt class time. :)

100 Days Celebration

Preston's 100 days of school celebration is coming up next week. They asked the children to create something using 100 objects. After, much discussion of what would be the best to use, Preston decided he wanted to use red m&m's. I asked Preston what he wanted to make using 100 red m&m's...he told me I want to make a red m&m. So this is what we came up with... Preston gluing the red m&m's on.

How to make Valentine's Mice

Hello friends! Today was Preston's Valentine's Day Party in his Kindergarten class. I am one of the room mom's--and today I got to do the craft for the party. I thought this was a fun, easy, and quick project, and I just thought I would share. The supplies needed are: 2 hershey kisses, a paper heart (aprox. 1 inch), 1 very small pom pom, 2 small googlie eyes, and tacky glue. The only prep I did for this project is cutting out the hearts, and cutting off the Hershey Kiss tag on one of the candies.

I had the kids start by gluing one of the Hershey Kisses to the paper heart. Then letting the paper rest against the Hershey kiss...I had the kids glue the second Hershey Kiss to the heart. I gave them a couple minutes to set up. Next, we took a little dot of glue and glued the small pom pom to the top of the Hershey Kiss without the tag. Last, we glued two tiny dots on the Hershey Kiss to apply the googlie eyes.

We allowed them to dry for about 3-5 minutes. I entertained them by having them come up with names for their mice, thinking of what their mice might eat, where they need to live, etc... Like I said, it was a real quick and easy Valentine's project.
