A Little Bit of Nothing...

Well...not much has happened this week. Nothing really "blog worthy" that is. So I will just give you a run down of what hasn't really been going on! I have been hit with THE WORST allergy attack I have had in years!! It has gotten to the point that I can no longer put my contacts in, so I have been sporting the crooked glasses look. (Addyson found them) My eyes have been looking a little like the picture below. (Without the creepy old man look, of course!) I have tried my hardest to be outside with the kids, I tried to mow, I have tried 3 different allergy medications. Apparently whatever is in the air, and I aren't going to be getting along. :( I was so sad too...because the weather has been beautiful!! BUT when in Utah don't expect it to stay that way. We had a huge rain, and hail storm this week. Now...what kind of a blogger would I be if I didn't grab the camera and video camera for a little footage? So here you go:

Yes, that is a ladder in that picture. Funny story about that one! I decided (on Monday--before the storm) I was going to be 'Handy Manny', and take those darn Christmas lights down by myself. Before I even made it up the ladder...the ladder slipped! Oh, I was fine..unfortunately Tyson's head got a nice welt on it. Yes, when the ladder slipped it fell on Tyson. I did manage to "cowboy up"...I got back on that ladder...and I got those Christmas lights down! I did tell Tyson...if I fall run next door, and tell the neighbor to call 9-1-1! Luckily, we had no problems. So anyway...check out the size of that hail!! It completely covered the ground. I love rainstorms. They remind me of Virginia. I used to sit on our front porch and write or read while it rained. It is sooo relaxing to me!Preston finished his science project with a week to spare!! I have learned SO much about praying mantises, that I am perfectly fine never crossing one again. I was perfectly fine with that to begin with. No I am finer! :) Preston did a great job. He drew this all by himself, and wrote it up nicely. He wanted to make the poster, and we spent hours looking up facts online. He even impressed me by checking out a library book at school about them.

So sometimes my brother, and I can be a little juvenile. We were bored, and decided to write David a letter using fridge magnets, and taking pictures of the sentences. So I just have to print them now, and mail them off. You have to be creative when your writing someone for 2 years!Tyson has had another fever this weekend, it didn't seem to last too long. So I am crossing my fingers. The thing that worries me is the, "My ear kinda hurts." So I guess we shall see. Clint also got some of the yard cleaned up this weekend. He finished mowing too. ;)

Saturday = Fun Day

Have I ever mentioned how much I love having daughters? Not that the boys aren’t great…there is just something special about being a Mom to little girls. So since the boys were headed to the Gun Show on Saturday, I decided I needed some Mommy-Daughter time. Yes, I do realize that they are 9 months, and 2. And they really have no concept of what we are doing…but I needed it! We got to spend the first part of Saturday going to lunch, and doing some shopping. I wanted to go get pedicures with them, but I thought that it would be nearly impossible given their ages. I love these sweet girls, an pray every day that we can stay close as they grow up. My Mom and I aren’t close. I miss that bonding time.

Saturday afternoon we met up, and went to Clint’s brother’s house for a family game night. So how many of you have ever seen the show “Minute To Win It” ? I personally have never watched it, but my SIL Rebecca put together several of the games from that show so we could play. We only had 1 Minute to complete each game. We drew names for whom would play what (smart thinking)! We had so much fun!! Clint is not a big game player, but he had a BLAST! So here are some of the pictures of various games. I don’t know the names of them all, but if you want to check out how to play the games head on over to the website. If any of you are in YM/YW’s I think these games would be awesome for a joint activity!

This one was hanging 10 nails on a string, without letting them fall. This one was moving a cotton ball from one side of the table to a cup, using Vaseline as the transfer agent. This one they had to stick 10 nuts on top of each other using one hand, and a skewer.

I wasn’t so good at this game, but you had to use your face muscles to move an Oreo cookie to your mouth. This one you had to stack so many cups and take them down in a Minute. This picture is hard to see, but you had to blow up a balloon and knock 18 cups of the table with your air from the balloon. I enjoyed the sorting M&M’s. I did it in 23 seconds. We cut the amount, and time in half. So I had 7 seconds to spare!! YAY! This game was keeping 3 balloons in the air for a minute. It was a blast. We had a great time, and enjoyed all the food!!! :) Then the sister in laws went shopping, and we left the guys at home (with the kids)! It was so nice to do that, we had fun!!

This is just a cute picture! We have really had fun getting together with Clint’s family, and miss hanging out with them. So this was a really nice evening. Thanks everyone! :)

What a Weekend...

First, there will be no pictures on this post. Sorry. It has been a weekend that is for sure! Let's start off with Friday night...Clint and I decided to tackle the garage. It's been pretty bad since Christmas. Ya know that's where all the boxes, and decorations get thrown in. Since it is too cold to put anything away where it goes. Also Tyson and Kaitlon have grown out of certain sizes. So I have been going through closets putting the clothing in trash bags...then throwing them in the garage. Then there is the fact that... not just one family lives at this residence. My siblings (we store David's things), and my mother are living here. So anytime they want something...well it gets pulled out, but never put back. Since it is spring (I think), I decided we could procrastinate no more! So we pulled EVERYTHING out of the garage. I made my brother, and mother buy Rubbermaid totes to replace their cardboard boxes. So what was only supposed to be an evening of cleaning--turned into 1 and 1/2 days of work. With everything my mother decided to chuck, and the replacing of the cardboard boxes, plus some old beat up furniture, a fridge that didn't work, and an old metal shelf...we took 1700lbs to the dump. Scary huh! It only cost $25.00 to dump, and I am happy to say I can walk through the garage now. It has been reorganized nicely...except Clint's tools. We were just too tired to keep going. So Saturday evening we went to my aunts in Brigham, and had a BBQ with them. My mom's whole family was there. It was fun we played Apples to Apples. I love that game!! Clint even played. Which brings us to Sunday...which is always an adventure. I was babysitting, which I love doing. So taking 6 kids (an 8yr. old, 2-7 yr. olds, a 5 yr. old, a 2 yr. old, and a 9 month old) to church alone is always an exciting experience. SO...it went a little something like this...I got called to be a Primary Teacher, said the prayer in R.S., was also the spotlight in the newsletter (which was fun), bore my testimony (since David challenged me), and managed to sorta keep the kids under control....so I decided I am good for at least a year--right? Totally kidding! ;] I am excited about my new calling...I haven't ever taught 10 yr. olds...I don't think. I have really been praying that the Lord will give me an opportunity to serve, and something that I could handle since Clint is gone so much. So I am very much looking forward to that.

Sidewalk Chalk Letter Scramble

Yesterday was Kindergarten Round-Up. Always bittersweet for me. I love that my children are getting bigger, and it will be nice to have another one at school. It's always a little sad though, because my children are getting bigger. Okay so I am going to tell you all that I am a horrible mother, and due to the fact that I was fighting for speech services all year I have neglected to really notice if Tyson is kindergarten ready. So a few days before the round up...I sat down with Tyson, and we went through the alphabet. My thoughts, "Hello...is your brain off?" He couldn't tell me a single letter, but his letter "T". So I started to panic a bit. They want them to recognize at least 10 letters before starting kindergarten, and he knows 1!! So I have tried to sit down with him after preschool, and really get his letters going. Today this was our activity..."Sidewalk Chalk Letter Scramble" I wrote down all the letters in Upper and Lower case. Then I showed him the letter I wanted him to find. We worked on 7 different letters today, and he was able to find them all. (5 of them were his name)
I sometimes wonder if Tyson is playing me for the fool, because after I asked him to find the letters "A" and "C" he did this:

He wrote them, like he has done it a million times. Then my thoughts were, "Maybe he will pick up on this faster then I thought!" So here is hoping he's got it figured out in the next 150 days (approx.)!!

Oh and in another funny Tyson story... I took the boys to see "How To Train Your Dragon", a couple weeks ago. Well dragons have been the talk around our house ever since. I found this story a bit humorous. Tyson was at preschool the other day, when he announces to his class, "Excuse me, but when you are all done doing what your doing. I need you to come to the circle time rug...so I can give you directions about your dragons." His teachers thought this was very comical, and said the looks on the other children's faces were quite priceless. Which as funny as this is to me...it really is leaps, and bounds for Ty Ty...he has come out of his shell!

I'm Actually Reading...

Those of you who know me well, know that I am not an avid reader. It takes me forever to read books. It seems without fail, as soon as I open them, the kids are at my feet asking for something. So I have spent the past 7 1/2 yrs. reading children's books. I have read part of the Harry Potter series. I am 1/2 way through book 4. Then I gave up, and started watching the movies. It isn't that I don't enjoy reading. I just can't seem to find the time to do it...or WANT to do it. In an effort to be a better mother...I created a list of goals for myself this year. One was to teach them better spiritually. Which I think has actually been to my benefit, not theirs. So back to the point here...I started reading this book after Addy was born. Then naturally put it down. I decided that I needed extra inspiration, and help. So I finally picked it back up, and have started reading it! YAY!

I have really enjoyed the scripture passages, and her thoughts on how to help your family in those areas. One of my favorite chapters is about the scripture Mosiah 4:15 "Ye will teach them to love one another, and to serve one another." She gave some wonderful advice, and I was so touched from it. One of my favorite things she wrote is that when she prays, she asks, that she can see her children the way Christ sees them. That was an extremely simple task, yet a very powerful one to me.

Easter Weekend

We had such a wonderful Easter Weekend. It was Preston's school spring break so we decided to go down, and visit family for the weekend. We packed up the car, and left early Friday morning. Friday was nice. Clint and I left the kids with my SIL Amber, and went to a movie. Then we visited with her for a while after so the kids could play. It was so nice. (Thanks again Amber...we really enjoyed talking with you, and your help with the kids!) Then Friday evening we left the kids with Clint's mom, and went to dinner. (We haven't had a lot of time with each other the past couple weeks) We did some light shopping, and got to eat at P.F. Chang's. I love that place. We waited so long that we got a free appetizer, and desert. Thanks Susan for watching our kids. On Saturday we spent time with my Dad, and brother in the morning. Then we headed over to Grandma Ferguson's for the annual Easter egg hunt. Here are all the kids with their cousins. Then it was on....

They made out with tons of candy, games, and prizes!! Thanks Grandma!! Dinner was wonderful. Then the Dads went to conference, while all the Moms talked, and the kids played! We spent the night at Grandpa Dennison's house, and the Easter Bunny left some treats. Grandpa also left treats.

I always try to get the kids a new church outfit for Easter if we can afford it. Then I usually end up coordinating all of them. I know it's that OCD I have. ;) I never got to get a family picture, but we all coordinated. (Maybe next Sunday) So here are some of the kids....

We had a beautiful Easter Sunday visiting with family, listening to conference, and eating a huge Turkey lunch. Thanks Dad for letting us crash your house this weekend.

Again, I would like to be mindful of the true meaning of Easter. For the Savior's precious sacrifice, for the atonement, and all it blesses me with. It gives me peace to know that when my time has past on this earth, I can have comfort in knowing the eternal plan the Lord has given us. That,we too can be resurrected, and live with our families, and our Father in heaven again. I am so thankful for the gospel of Jesus Christ, and that enriches my life. I am so blessed to have guidance in my life, and understanding of who I am, and where I am going. I wish you all a very Happy Easter, and that the true meaning of this holiday enriches your lives as well.

A Fool's Dinner

Well I'm not one that normally does the "April Fools Day" celebrating. Although, when I woke up to 2 inches of snow in my yard (just a guess), I assumed I should do some fooling of my own. Thanks Mother Nature for that wonderful April Fools trick! So for dinner we had chicken nuggets, peas & carrots, and mashed potatoes & gravy!
Look funny?? It's actually coconut donuts, ice cream with Carmel topping, and orange & green Runts candy!

Okay...does he not looked so confused?? Totally priceless!!

Tyson didn't know what to think, but was absolutely certain that those couldn't be real mashed potatoes.

Addy...was really disappointed when she realized they weren't real mashed potatoes. She said, "Ice cream?" In a very surprised, questioning tone.

Then I said, "April Fools!!!!!!!!!!!" The kids thought this was funny, but we're very happy when the pizza man showed up with our real dinner!! :)
