9

Preston turned the big "9" today! Since it was Sunday we spent the day at church and at home. Grammie, Grandpa Ferguson, Grandma Ferguson, and Aunt Rebecca came up for a little get together. We had Preston's favorite dinner, haystacks. Cake and ice cream. Then we opened presents. Preston has found a new love for Harry Potter and a new love for Legos. So all he wanted were Harry Potter Lego sets. He got three of them! He even got Hogwarts!! He was so excited!! We are planning a birthday party for Preston and Tyson combined, but that will be in a few weeks. Happy Birthday, Preston! We love you!!

Preston/Wolf Badge

Preston received his wolf badge in Cub Scouts on Tuesday. He has been finished for a while--but we were out of town and unavailable. He loves cub scouts. I was a Den Mother for a while, but I wasn't in scouting long enough to see any of my Den receive their awards. So this was a cool experience for me. Preston had to put a wolf pin on me-upside down. Then he can turn it right side up as soon as he does a good deed. I think the scouting program is really neat. I am very grateful for the things he is learning and achieving.

Preston also lost another tooth this week. I don't know why he is sooo funny about us not touching them. He gets so upset when we tell him to wiggle them. We literally have to hold him down and pull them out. He got $2 from the Tooth Fairy this time. (She's a cheap-o!)
Preston will also be turning 9 tomorrow!!! (Post soon to follow!)

Finally!

I was beginning to believe that Preston would never lose a tooth on his own! He is 8 1/2. He has had teeth pulled by a dentist, but has never had a loose tooth. So I was thrilled when he finally got one. He worked on it wiggling...for days...weeks...months....! Then I realized that his adult tooth was coming in behind the baby tooth. I wasn't thrilled about that. So I cracked down on his tooth wiggling business. It took a couple more weeks, but he finally let got me pulling it. That's a funny story. Got time to hear it? Of course you do.
So it was way loose. He would not let anyone touch it. He couldn't eat. He was crying. Oh, it was a nightmare. So one day after school I said to him "Let me pull it." Of course the reply was a big fat "NO!". The next day we met my mom for Chinese food. We beat her to the restaurant. So I held Preston down and pulled it out. In my car. The car was shaking. He was screaming. I was yelling back. Thank goodness no one called CPS.
(That is sweet and sour sauce on his face. Not blood.)
I felt so terrible about the whole thing that I bought him a wii game. Then I thought...Crap, what's the tooth fairy gonna bring? One wii game and $1.00 (from the tooth fairy) later--his tooth is finally gone!

~SnEaK PeEk~

Clint's Grandma has been on our case about family pictures lately. So I finally caved and told Clint we would get some done. I was even trying to plan to do them before Mother's Day, but the weather has stalled that. We had these done 2 weeks ago...and she just posted some to facebook. I was so excited! (It made my day!!) I had to steal a couple early and post them to our blog. Stephanie was so patient with us! Especially our little Kaitlon--whose picture is adorable! I can't wait to see the rest of our pictures! For now...here is a little sneak peek! There are more on her facebook page; Patchwork Photography. She does an amazing job!! She is so affordable. I recommend her! Thank you so much Stephanie. {PRESTON}

Preston's First Pinewood Derby

Oh, the Pinewood Derby! We started working on Preston's car in March, I think. We didn't finish until 20 minutes before the race. Lot's of factors played into that. Like, Clint's car breaking down in the middle of Salt Lake the evening before. (Forcing him to stay there--because I was sound asleep by the time he got off work.) BUT we got it done and just in time. Preston won 2 out of 4 races. He finished 7Th overall. We are really grateful for experiences like this for our kids. I really enjoy the Cub Scout program (Even though I feel like I am the worst Mom at helping him earn his awards.) This was Preston's car. He didn't name it. That's him in the front.

His certificate and trophy!!

"From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere!"

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! How did we celebrate?? We celebrate in style.... The boys got to dress up at school again this year. Preston was so excited and had planned what he wanted to do. He was going to be Thing 1 and Tyson was going as Thing 2! We worked really hard on getting the costumes put together. (Including the blue pom-pom hair) Then on Tuesday Preston came down with Strep Throat. What a bummer!! He was miserable and couldn't go to school today. He was a good sport though and put his stuff on long enough to get a picture with Tyson.
It was also early out day today--so after school Tyson watched "The Cat in the Hat" and popped popcorn!! Then he requested GREEN EGGS & HAM for dinner!! We actually found several of the movies on a website. So the kids watched their favorite Dr. Seuss stories come to life!
Oh yes, we did have GREEN EGGS & HAM for dinner. Preston doesn't not like green eggs and ham! The rest of the kids ate them up!! I didn't color the ham, I was running out of time. The kids have been so hungry lately. If I don't have dinner on the table by 5:00--the WHINING starts!! It was a pretty fun day, minus the strep.

"Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one."

Oh, psst...Macey's Grocery Store is doing a Dr. Seuss Celebration this Saturday. From 11-1. Cookie decorating, stories, and more.

12 Days of Christmas--Day #10

School Sing-along, and Pajama Party.
There was so much going on at school on Day #10, that it had to count. The sing-along was cute. The second grade sang Silent Night, and did Sign Language with it. Then both kids did different class activities in their pajamas! It was a fun day!!

HUNTING

Clint loves hunting, sometimes too much. I guess it's one of those things I have to love about him, but I am not sure why he does it. :) This year he wanted to take the boys. They left Thursday afternoon and have been gone since then. It has reminded me, a little too much, of how nice it is to only have 2 kids. It's been so quiet. No fighting, wrestling, screaming, Addy sure can talk though! I was able to steal these pictures from my SIL's facebook page. I got to talk to them last night, they are having fun, but they are cold and wet. They have tried twice to shoot a Buck, and haven't been fast enough. They were going to try a little more today, then head home.
I think it's awesome Clint shared this experience with them. I sure hope he doesn't draw out next year...but don't tell him I said that! ;)

Preston's Baptism Day

We enjoyed this wonderful day with Preston. We are so proud of him, and the choice he made to become a member of the church. This was such a great day!! I cried. (Cause I always cry.) One of my favorite parts of the day was watching my little Preston "tear-up". Later we talked about it, and came to the conclusion that he was feeling the spirit.

A Letter From Uncle David

We are preparing for baptism in this house right now. I am so excited, and can't wait to share that day with Preston. My brother, David, who is serving a mission sent a letter home for Preston. It really touched my heart, and I broke down into tears reading it to him. I just wanted to share it, the message behind it was so uplifting. And so perfectly written for an 8 year old to understand.

Preston,
Hey Buddy. How are you doing? I can't believe you are turning 8. Well you already have, but it's so awesome you have chosen to be baptized. I'm so proud of you kid. The choice you are making now will bless you the rest of your life. Your Heavenly Father is so proud of you, for the choice you are making now, that you are going to enter the waters of baptism. You will get the gift of the Holy Ghost and have him with you to help you make good choices. Your baptism is making a promise to God. Like God does with every promise, he gives us blessings, this one is the Holy Ghost. Preston, I am so so proud of you. You are so lucky to have the chance to be baptized at 8. I baptize people who are older, like Mommy's and Daddy's. They haven't had the gospel in their lives, and they aren't happy. Then people introduce them to our church, they get baptized, and find that missing happiness. The whole reason I am on my mission is to help people do what you are preparing to do. You are becoming a big kid now, and have to make sure you're choosing the right. The Holy Ghost can only be with you if you are being good. So make sure you listen to your teachers, help your Mom and Dad, and be a good kid. I think you should make spiritual goals for your life, even though you're young. Like to serve a mission or graduate from seminary. You will remember your baptism day the rest of your life. I still remember mine. The warm tingly feeling you get, well that's Heavenly Father and Jesus telling you they love you, and are so proud of you. That what you're doing is right. The bad guys are going to try to make you feel bad, and not be happy. But the good guys will always want you to choose the right. So make sure you are on the right side! That way you can be happy, and be close to Heavenly Father.
I love you, Preston. Choose the right!!
Love,
Elder/ Uncle David Dennison

Being “8” is great!

2010-09-181

Preston turned 8 today! We decided to keep this year low key (since we have a baptism coming up), and have a fun family day. We spent the day at the Zoo (see the previous post). It was a blast, we had a great time. We ended our day at Chili’s. It’s one of Preston’s favorite places to eat. He ordered his favorite thing, BBQ Ribs. He even got a free chocolate shake. We opened presents there. Preston got lot’s of Zhu Zhu things, a Rocket Ship/Alien set, a DS game, and some cool science things. He is very into that right now. He has even decided he will grow up to be a scientist. :)  We hope you had a great birthday, P!! We love you!
